Special English Days


“Special English Days" is a much-awaited event in our school. These days consist of matches of debate as well as public speaking presentations.
Speech is power. It takes courage to stand up and speak, it takes courage to sit down and listen.
A powerful voice means the ability to influence and change lives, to inspire others to become better people.
The first day, the 27th of March:
Morning session:
The first match of debate:
Motion: “Secondary school students should be able to choose what they learn in school"
Grade 7A was in team FOR and the members of the team were: Miruna Irina, Sophia Lăzărescu, Clara Spiroiu; coordinator teacher: Cătălina Buicescu.
Grade 7C was in team AGAINST and the members of the team were: Daria Uzlău, Catinca Radu, Dan Titirez; coordinator teacher: Ana Gheorghiceanu.
Winner of this match was 7C.
The second match of debate:
Motion: “Do exam results alone determine a student’s worth"
Grade 8A was in team FOR and the members of the team were: Ilinca Olteanu, Sofia Barbu, Mara Tulin; coordinator teacher: Alina Damian.
Grade 8 C was in team AGAINST and the members of the team were: Paula Stoica, Bianca Stancu, Mara Crăciun; coordinator teacher: Ana-Maria Obezaru.
Winner of this match was 8C.
Afternoon session:
Public Speaking for Grades 5 (5A and B – coordinator teacher Irina Gidea, 5C and D – coordinator teacher Iuliana Dobrescu):

Motion: “Does the educational system kill creativity"

Grade 8 B was in team AGAINST and the members of the team were: Mara Botezatu, Luca Predoi, Luca Baias; coordinator teacher: Irina Bărburiceanu.

Grade 8B was in team AGAINST and the members of the team were: Mara Botezatu, Luca Predoi, Luca Baias; coordinator teacher: Irina Bărburiceanu.
Winner of the debate competition was 8B.
Afternoon session:
Public Speaking: High school (10A – coordinator teacher Irina Bărburiceanu; 10B – coordinator teacher Cristiana Cristea; 11A – coordinator teacher Ana Gheorghiceanu; IB1 – coordinator teacher Cristiana Cristea)
Topic: “Explain the word love to someone without using the word love"

Third place: Maria Ionescu (10A);
Second place: Alexandra Popescu (IB1);
First place: Adelina Munteanu (10A) si Victor Dinu (10B).

We are also very proud to present to you the new issue of the English Language Magazine Bits & Pieces. It has amazing graphics, really appealing articles and interviews. This is quite a competitive magazine with other English magazines from other high schools.
